This Wonderful Chaos

Ever so many things are happening here all at once! Aside from the fact that we're in the final month with our senior track athlete (Whoa. I wasn't ready for all. the. things.), there's nothing like having other hopes and ideas that have simmered for a long time, suddenly being thrust into full swing at the exact same time. An unplanned whirlwind thirteen hour road trip dropped into our laps on Sunday afternoon and we didn't find our way home until nearly midnight on Monday.

Late yesterday afternoon, a man with a big truck delivered a pile of sweet-smelling cedar lumber. Around dinner time, a man with a machine arrived, and by bedtime, he'd worked some magic in the dirt around here. I was busy hopping around from lawn mower to shovel, to rake. We filled the truck twice with loads of root balls, tree roots, and other organic debris and hauled it off. Good thing we had a boy who could make dinner for us. (He was preparing a pot of water in which to cook pasta and hollered out the window to verify how much salt to use, "I put in three cups of salt, Mom?" Thankfully, he asked first!)

As soon as this morning's shuffle is over and three boys are out the door, my husband and I will be headed out, too, to all that waits for us in the sunshine outside. I'm pretty much going to be living in my old work clothes for the next week, and I couldn't be more thrilled.

In the middle of all this wonderful chaos, I noticed the wild lupine in bloom. It only took me a few minutes to pick a vaseful.

P.S. If you've emailed me recently, please know I've seen it but time to respond right now is very limited!! I'll be catching up on the inbox later this month.
