In Desperate Need Of Green

When it's April and the weather is working on dumping its second foot of snow in three days (with more coming), your eyes become famished for green. They'll search for it as a starving soul searches for food. When they find it, they'll gulp it down, weeping with the knowledge that their soul will actually live.

Is this dramatic?

I don't care! (And now I'm being sassy). Green is my lifeline right now, and if I can't see it outside my windows, well then, I've got to see it inside my windows. Houseplants (you knew I'd say that), art, throw pillows, curtains, rugs - I could go a little crazy with the green in the house (Paint the walls!), not entirely unexpected when the fibers of my being are chanting: GREEN! GREEN! GREEN!

When I found this fabric, you can imagine my reaction. It reminded me of this green (which also took my breath away), only in linen. It's an exquisitely unusual shade called snap pea, a name I really don't think can be topped. This weekend, it'll become throw pillows. And maybe a dress, and probably a scarf, oh, and my gosh, an apron, and how about some napkins...

Are you, too, in desperate need of green? Find some. Wrap it around your body. Put it in a pot on your windowsill, toss it on your sofa. I mean, you could even drink it if you wanted to.

We will survive!
