Design Post | A Small Considered Kitchen


I have a steadfast belief that a small kitchen can be as enduring and beautiful as a large one. The magic happens when function, product (cabinetry + finishes + countertops + appliances + lighting + kitchenware), and space planning meld into an alchemy of goodness and you’re left with a room that looks and feels simple and effortless. 

And because finding that place starts with inspiration, here is some for you with the collection of components that make up our kitchen

Walls: Six inch tongue and groove pine plank, beaded  

Paint: Sherwin Williams Pure White

Lighting: Vintage copper sconce w original milk glass shade, recessed task lighting

Window Shade: custom linen Swedish roll up shade

Range: Vintage JennAir

Refrigerator: Summit, counter depth (similar)

Pot Rack: raw steel, custom (similar)

Art: kid art (from our youngest when he was little), enlarged and canvas-wrapped by Canvas Pop

Shelf brackets: Mission cast iron, black

Shelf boards: reclaimed barn wood (similar), sealed with paste wax

Cabinets: custom made with a flat panel door style, painted in Sherwin Williams Pure White

Cabinet knobs: wood, painted in Sherwin Williams Pure White

Drawer pulls: brushed nickel bin pull (similar)

Countertop: custom made solid walnut, finished with Osmo oil

Sink: Kohler Deerfield double bowl under mount

Sink racks: Kohler, custom, left and right, for the Deerfield sink

Faucet: DeVol unlacquered brass bridge faucet with side spray, drains, and drain baskets

Soap Dispenser: Amber glass with matt black metal pump, (single here)

Dish towels: LinenMe natural/black

Tea Kettle: Hario in white enamel

Dinnerware: Thompson Pottery

Glassware: Luminarc Working Glass (soon to be packed up and sent off with the college guy for his next apartment, and replaced with these Duralex beauties)

Cookware: All Clad Stainless Tri-Ply, polished
