Take Heart
Ah, loves. When it feels like our pillars are shifting, our anchors aren’t holding, and our normal is not anymore, take heart. You’re made of more than you know. These circumstances are unsettling, yes; inconvenient, most definitely, but there is still beauty in every day, still relationships to nurture, still memories to be made, still things to create.
The most beautiful thing I’ve seen come of this global circumstance so far is community. With the connection of social media and the internet, we have the ability to encourage, inspire, and help each other through. I’m so very thankful for the work that I do, both in design and in writing, and how, from this desk, in this nook, of this house, I can reach out and touch you all, offering my services, inspiration, and a connection to a calm and peaceful place.
Our family is well, and we, like you, are learning moment by moment what our new normal might be, as changes seem to be happening by the minute, with details of employment and projects fluid and unsure. My instinctive reaction to it all is to shore up our sanctuary of home, to provide nourishment, comfort, and sustenance for those of us sheltered here. Somehow, it’s the simple things that mean the most right now - baking bread, planting seeds, hanging sheets out to dry (soon, soon!). The very nature of home means the world right now.
I’m thinking of you all and hope you will navigate the days and weeks ahead with strength, grace, and an ability to find hope and beauty even where we think it might not be.
