Inspiration | Interpretation - Nature's Texture
When the work, words, home, style, talents, or value of someone or something else makes your breath catch, stirs a longing, or causes you to lean in with curiosity, this is simply part of them reflecting part of you. Their life and work is not a prescription or formula, but an invitation for you to live fully yours. Take that awakening, that curiosity, and see what it becomes in your unique life.
It was the idea of texture that started it all. Inspired by the exquisite abundance of it found in nature, and how it’s done so well, where layers upon layers never seem too much, too overdone, or too overwhelming. Where its abundance is somehow quiet; its richness, somehow simple.
I wondered, What could become of this idea, given free reign?
INSPIRATION:
From this orchestra of textures, I picked just one: weathered wood. A solo that could stand well alone with its gentle rises and meandering falls, ridges and grooves ordered by species, etched by weather, worn by time.
INTERPRETATION:
This thread of inspiration took to a length of linen cloth. A quiet, simply woven fabric historically given to a maker’s pleats and pins and tucks. Soon, across its surface there were gentle rises and meandering falls, ridges and grooves. Sculpted by hands, by machine, by stitches, and time.
Loves? When inspiration is given its freedom, beautiful things happen.
