Design Post | Bring Your House Home
It’s been nearly two years in the planning and design phase, and in a few short weeks, demo will finally be underway on this Montana project (here’s a peek at the inspiration and some of the selections for the primary bathroom). All the selections have been made, have arrived, and are waiting in the wings. Come autumn, a wonderful family will be moving into their newly renovated forever home.
What an honor it is for me to be entrusted with such a commission. To help bring to life the homeowners’ desires, their vision, their hearts for creating a home that holds them, nurtures them, and gives freely, as they do, to the many family and friends who cross their threshold. To take a good house and, with thoughtful adjustments in form and function, bring it to its fullest potential in the language of the ones who live there.
Together, we’re bringing their house home.
With all my heart, I believe a house is so much more than four walls, a roof, some windows, and a door. It is our shelter, our sanctuary, our sacred space. It’s an opportunity for incredible beauty and incredible peace. Because home matters. Beauty matters. Function matters.
I encourage you, loves, whatever is in your hand to do with your house, and however it’s come to you, receive it as a gift. Simply receive. No feelings of guilt, shame, or hesitancy about what you have or don’t have. Simply receive. Whatever the appropriate gesture is for you, whether a full renovation, or a fresh coat of paint and new throw pillows, I encourage you, no, I invite you to experience the joy of bringing your house home.
